Sojung Lim is a choreographer and dancer from South Korea. She is currently Lecturer of Dance at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), holds an MFA in Dance from UIUC and a BA in Arts and Science with a concentration in Dance from the University of Washington (UW). Her academic journey also includes studies in theatre production and creative writing at Birkbeck College, University of London.

Throughout her diverse dance career, Sojung has delved into various artistic disciplines and explored different cultural contexts. Her ongoing research focuses on integrating her Korean expression into contemporary dance. Recently, she premiered her groundbreaking work, Chronic Translation (2024), as her MFA Thesis project.

Sojung's choreographic works have received significant recognition. Her piece Do We Have Home? was featured at the Seattle International Dance Festival in 2020, and Two Chairs was presented at the American College Dance Association in 2023. She has also performed in notable historical works, such as Martha Graham's Steps in the Street from Chronicle (1936, performed in 2023), S45 with Merce Cunningham’s iconic work, Suite for Five 1956 (Chicago, 2023), Residency Cunningham Centennial Celebration (Seattle, 2019). Additionally, she was involved in the Migra project with Kamchatka Theatre in Spain (Seoul, 2015).

Sojung has had the privilege of collaborating with esteemed artists such as Tere O’Connor, Paige Cunningham-Caldarella, Miki Orihara, Elizabeth Auclair, Alfonso Cervera, Donald Byrd, Rachel Lincoln, John Toenjes, Jo Blake, Laura Peterson, and Junhee Park.
